Aflatoxin M1

Aflatoxin M1 is one of a class of mycotoxins which are found in milk as a result of dairy cattle eating feed containing Aflatoxins.  It is a very potent toxin, with potential to affect humans at a very low concentration.  Analytica’s methods have the ability to quantify AflatoxinM1 in raw milk and dairy products to International requirements, making use of LC-MS/MS to deliver advantages over traditional ELISA techniques.

How does Analytica conduct the test

Samples are extracted with an organic solvent, cleaned up by solid phase extraction then analysed by LCMSMS.

Raw milk 
A representative sample of 50-100 mL of milk is required.  Please keep chilled if being delivered immediately, or freeze then send chilled to the laboratory.

Dairy products
An unopened sachet or consumer package is required, with details of batch and product description to be shown clearly on the outside.

Don’t forget to label each sample container with a unique name or code, matching the Sample Identification that you write on the Analysis Request Form. We will invoice you when we report your results.
